Late last week, Carrier Strike Group Three arrived in the Arabian Sea amid growing turmoil. Although the region has been no stranger to tension since the Iranian Revolution of 1979, a series of attacks have plunged the country into a bitter civil war. These attacks included the assassination of the country's de facto leader, the Grand Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and the arrest of President Rouhani, causing a power vacuum as remaining leadership jostle for control over the countries central government.
As Strike Group Three begins presence operations, the United States government and its allies hope that the power projection of a Nimitz Class aircraft carrier will quell further hostilities. Additionally, as the USS Roosevelt continues to protect the rights, freedoms, and lawful navigation of the worlds most vital waterways, the men and women of Roosevelt Strike Group stand ready to intervene and protect the people of Iran and surrounding nations as they now face uncertain times. More to follow as this story develops...
