Following their reassignment to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Virtual Carrier Strike Group THREE aviators assigned to the strike group have taken the change in stride with many still pursuing their "Final Mission Qualification", a major step in certifying aviators for combat. Assignment to the Nimitz class aircraft carrier has brought with it many challenges which pilots are unaccustomed to, including a properly scaled aircraft carrier and fresh new flight deck crew.
When asked for his opinion of the new operating environment, VFA-14 Executive Officer, CDR C. "Bones" Henthorn, whom is also a retired Marine, replied "it's f**kin' awesome, OOHRAH." vCSG-3 and its combat aviators are scheduled to deploy later in the year although the location of the deployment still remains uncertain given growing tensions in both the Persian Gulf and Black Sea regions.
